Dr. Dhannia Torres-Rincon, Ph.D., is a behavioral sleep medicine psychologist and works alongside Dr. Ruchir P. Patel, Medical Director, and other sleep specialists at The Insomnia and Sleep Institute of Arizona’s Scottsdale location. She has lived in Arizona most of her life and is a proud graduate of Arizona State University. She received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2017. Before this, she completed her pre-doctoral internship at the George E. Wahlen VA in Salt Lake City, focusing on health psychology. Additionally, her fellowship training was performed at the Phoenix VA in clinical psychology, emphasizing Chronic Pain.

Dr. Torres-Rincon has extensive training in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She also holds a certification in primary care mental health integration.

Dr. Torres-Rincon is passionate about integrated care and working with individuals to create a treatment plan that considers the whole person. She has experience working in various medical settings and treating folks struggling with various physical and emotional concerns. Dr. Torres-Rincon believes it is important to understand symptoms and how these symptoms uniquely impact an individual’s life.

Dr. Torres-Rincon is particularly interested in the relationship between sleep disorders, relationships, and chronic pain/chronic illness conditions. Dr. Torres-Rincon works with individuals ready to take an active and collaborative approach to their health goals. Central to her treatment approach is that knowledge is power and works with individuals to help move through the obstacles that get in the way of living the life they would like to live.
