Sriharsha Vajjala, M.D.
Dr. Sriharsha Vajjala, M.D., is a Sleep Medicine Physician with clinical, teaching, and research experience. He was born in India, got into a competitive medical school, and came to the United States to pursue his life and career goals. He graduated from Internal Medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey where he discovered his love for Sleep Medicine. He pursued a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center and graduated in 2016. He is Dual Board Certified in Internal and Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
Dr. Vajjala previously called The Insomnia and Sleep Institute of Arizona home in 2018-19, and he and his family returned to Arizona after spending three years in Honolulu, Hawaii in August 2022.
Having trained in the busy north-east, Dr. Vajjala moved to Arizona to work in an underserved area as a Primary Care Physician. He then moved up to Hawaii to pursue his Life Passion, Sleep Medicine. As the Director of the Sleep Center, he led two sleep labs. As a Clinical Instructor, he trained family medicine, psychiatry residents, and medical students at the University of Hawaii. He was also a Sub-Investigator on multiple Clinical Trials, including some new Drugs pending and FDA approved for Insomnia and Narcolepsy.
Dr. Vajjala’s upbringing in India and extensive experience in clinical and academic medicine give him a unique and worldwide view of common sleep problems. He specializes in managing obstructive, complex, and central sleep apneas, other sleep-related breathing disorders, insomnia, abnormal sleep behaviors (parasomnia), Jet lag, shift work, Delayed sleep phase, restless legs, narcolepsy/hypersomnia, and pediatric sleep disorders. Dr. Vajjala frequently gives talks, lectures, and seminars to broad audiences in the media and in person to spread awareness of common sleep problems.
Dr. Vajjala strongly believes that Sleep is an essential part of Healthy living and must be emphasized in healthy, active lifestyle along with exercise and nutrition. He advocates a comprehensive patient-centric, and patient-led management approach.
Dr. Vajjala enjoys playing golf and traveling with his family. However, he has a straightforward goal in life: Help People Sleep Naturally with minimal or no pharmacologic intervention.
