Waiz Wasey, M.D., FAAFP
Dr. Waiz Wasey is a sleep physician with a family medicine background. He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University, Springfield, Illinois, in family medicine. He then pursued a fellowship in sleep medicine from Mayo Clinic. During his training, he was awarded resident of the year and resident teaching award for outstanding research contributions. He was also nominated for the Mayo Brother’s prestigious award and received a letter of appreciation directly from the CEO of Mayo Clinic.
Before joining The Insomnia and Sleep Institute of Arizona, Dr. Wasey worked as a hospitalist and assistant professor of family medicine in a residency program. He was also the director of sleep clinics at his previous institute.
Dr. Wasey is double board certified in Family medicine and Sleep medicine. Dr. Wasey focuses on treating sleep disorders to optimize overall health, especially if there are multiple underlying medical comorbidities. He firmly believes that good sleep should be everyone’s primary focus, since we spend 1/3rd of our lives sleeping. Dr. Wasey has good experience in treating different types of sleep apnea, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and parasomnias. He believes in using modern technology, research-backed treatments, and when appropriate, holistic approaches to treat underlying sleep disorders.
Dr. Wasey has served on various committees with the academy of sleep medicine and family medicine. He enjoys teaching and has published different textbook chapters on sleep medicine.
When not working, Dr. Wasey enjoys traveling, photography and hiking.
